Seidel wins penultimate WPT tournament
Thursday 10th April 2008
The last World Poker Tour event of the season before next week's championship has been won by Erik Seidel.
Robert Richardson was the Las Vegas resident's final victim at the Foxwoods Poker Classic, succumbing to the eight-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner in the heads-up.
Seidel receives $992,890 for the victory and a $25,000 seat at the WPT season finale.
Andrew Barta went home in third place, finishing ahead of Frank Cieri, Adam Katz and Ted Forrest after an epic final table that lasted until 04:30 local time.
Money-wise, Seidel's first WPT title is the biggest win of his career and puts his 2008 earnings close to the $2 million mark.
It is likely that combined with the 1,600 points he earned from finishing runner-up at this year's Aussie Millions, Seidel will move into first place in Card Player's player of the year rankings ahead of Michael McDonald.
