Riisem on top at EPT: Grand Final
Tuesday 15th April 2008
Ovvind Riisem leads the way after the second day of action from the European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final.
The Norwegian has 411,000 chips, giving him a clear advantage over fellow Scandinavian Joe Hachem in second.
Marcel Luske and Ted Lawson are still in the hunt for the $3.2 million winner's prize at the Monte Carlo event, as are Freddy Deeb, Greg Baron and Sorel Mizzi, who are all among the top ten.
Only 123 go through to day three of the competition from the 400 who started day two. Among those who did not make it are Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen and Vanessa Rousso.
Despite the EPT finale being one of the biggest events of the year, a number of the world's top players have elected not to attend.
Included in this list are Phil Hellmuth, Hoyt Corkins, Doyle Brunson and Jennifer Harman, who have all been seen in Las Vegas this past week ahead of the World Poker Tour Championship.
