Bwin Taking Tennis To Court

Austrian online gaming operator files defamation lawsuit against French Tennis Federation.

Tuesday 15th April 2008

According to a report from Austrian news agency APA, online gaming company Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG has filed a defamation lawsuit against the French Tennis Federation (FFT) with a Paris court.

The Austrian firm filed the motion in response to statements made from the FFT that Bwin posed an ethical risk for the sport of tennis.

The Federation initiated legal proceedings earlier this year seeking to ban online betting on the French Open and hopes to have a court ruling before the start of the tournament on May 25.
