Greenstein beats Duthie to Stars of Poker title
Wednesday 16th April 2008
Barry Greenstein has ensured he will not be leaving the European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final empty handed by winning a side tournament known as Stars of Poker.
The Robin Hood of Poker faced off against Noah Boeken, Bertrand Grospellier, Dario Minieri, Katja Thater, Daniel Negreanu and John Duthie to win the trophy in the $10,000 buy-in single table event.
Including Greenstein, the field has three EPT titles, four World Poker Tour trophies, five World Series of Poker bracelets and a Poker Million championship between them.
The only player without a major title to his name is Minieri, who is known more for being a high-stakes specialist than for playing tournaments, although he has finished third at an EPT event before.
Greenstein faced Duthie in the heads-up to take home the winner's cheque of $50,000 - half of the overall prize pool. The tournament was filmed for television and will air at a later date.
The Stars of Poker title may make up for Greenstein's disappointment at being eliminated from the EPT championship event on day two.
