CryptoLogic Releases Street Fighter Slot

Dublin-based online gambling software developer CryptoLogic is set to capitalise on an expected wave of nostalgia with the release of a video slot title based on the 1980s Street Fighter series of fighting games.

According to numerous reports out this week, the move from the Irish firm follows the impending release of Street Fighter IV and the re-release of Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting alongside an upcoming movie based on character Chun-Li.

The Street Fighter II slot will see players choose a fighter from characters such as Ken, Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile or Sagat and then battle with final boss M Bison in a 25-payline game. Players hitting five claw symbols will multiply their line bet by 5,000 times while their chosen character will fight the Shadowloo dictator in a re-enactment of the arcade game in the bonus game, which is triggered whenever a substitute symbol appears on the second reel alongside the M Bison symbol on the fourth reel.

When speaking to online-casinos.com, the Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at Cryptologic, Justin Thouin, has this to say. “Street Fighter really ignited the fighting game genre. I think the series has sold more than 500,000 coin-operated units and 24 million console games world-wide so this is a massive brand with huge popularity world-wide and I think it’s going to be a phenomenal experience for players.”

“Comic book characters that have a story behind them and have [storylines] that can be integrated and woven into slot machines in a gaming experience really do translate well and players love the experience.”

CryptoLogic stated that the new game would be released this week for players at InterCasino.com and WilliamHillCasino.com with further online casinos following in the near future.
