Binger second in POY table - but for how long?
Friday 18th April 2008
Poker professional Michael Binger is the second best player of the year so far, according to Card Player's latest rankings.
The Nevada resident continued his excellent 2008 with a win at event 13 of the Five-Star World Poker Classic on Wednesday, which gave him enough points to propel him from 11th to the runner-up spot.
Binger's 3,040 score total leaves him a good finish away from toppling leader Erik Seidel on 3,700, although he is far from in a secure position himself.
Canadian Michael McDonald is just 120 points behind and all of the top three's positions could be under threat once the points earned from yesterday's European Poker Tour Grand Final are added up.
Binger has made it into second through regular final table appearances in medium-sized events as opposed to majors, a tactic that has won Men Nguyen several POY titles in the past.
Because of this, he has earned the second least amount of money this year out of anyone in the top ten, with only eighth-placed Nguyen having generated less.
