There are not many poker players from the UK and Ireland who have earned more than $2 million in live tournament winnings in their careers.
Dave "Devil Fish" Ulliott and Roland de Wolfe have both made it past the magic mark and now Irishman Marty Smyth is one step closer to following in their footsteps after winning $250,000 over the weekend.
The winner's cheque from the Partypoker.com World Open IV will take his total near to $1.75 million and this is only after four significant tournament finishes.
Smyth won $500,000 and $867,546 from the Ladbrokes Poker Million and Irish Poker Open events respectively last year and also took $100,000 from the 2006 Poker Million event.
The player who he beat in the World Open heads-up Neil Channing has earned almost the same amount, his $1,263,261 from this year's Irish Poker Open by far the biggest contributor to his total.
