WSOP on the way!

As we approach the start of the 2008 World Series of Poker tournament (WSOP) we are seeing more and more Poker players dreaming of that massive prize pot, the reputation and the kudos which goes with being the WSOP Champion. Over the last couple of weeks we have also seen a large increase in the number of free entry routes with more and more competitions opening up with the WSOP in mind... either that or you find the $10,000 buy-in fee!

While the organisers are never sure how many contestants will be at the event until just a couple of days before the start, the clever money seems to be on a roll call of between 6,000 and 8,000 entrants for this years event... and they say that Poker is struggling!

When you start to look at recent winners of the Tournament, names such as Jerry Yang ($8.25m), Jamie Gold ($12m) and Joe Hachem ($7.5m) really start to wet the appetite. Who will be this years winner? Who will fall at the final hurdle?

The next few weeks should see the excitement continue to grow as more and more players dream of making the final table and taking the big names to the cleaners. Ah, we can but dream...
