Full Tilt win puts Baron second in OPOY

Wednesday 14th May 2008

Isaac Baron's victory in event one of Full Tilt Poker's FTOPS VIII has put him in an excellent position to retain his Card Player online player of the year (OPOY) crown.

Baron, known on the internet as westmenloAA, earned 1,200 points for the victory, putting him just eight points behind race leader Brian "SNo0oWMAN" Hawkins.

It was the biggest points win of Baron's season so far and also earned him his largest amount of money - $158,852.

The win arguably makes the Californian the most successful poker player in the world this year if live and online tournaments are combined.

He is currently a very respectable 74th in Card Player's POY rankings with earnings of more than $1 million.

Baron is followed in the table by Russell "rcrane082985" Crane, Brent "Bhanks11" Hanks and David "GhettoFabolous" Randall.

Crane has also impressed with his performances in recent weeks, having earned almost 400 points since April 7th.
