Big Brown Heads Field For 133rd Preakness Stakes
Thursday 15th May 2008
In the aftermath of the Eight Belles tragedy at the recent Kentucky Derby many people may not actually be aware that it was Big Brown who won the race. However, hot on the heels of that great win the horse now moves on to the 133rd Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course on Saturday.
Drawn number 7 in a field of 13 horses the Derby champion is sure to go off as a hot favourite with many bookies and punters unable to see exactly who can challenge the champ. Initial indications are that Big Brown could be pushed down to as short as 2/1 on for the win, although some are quoting even slimmer odds.
Many experts are forecasting that Big Brown will run the same race as he did in the Derby, staying close to the pack before pulling away in the later stages of the race. Quite who can stop Big Brown is anyone’s guess but it will take a mighty fine effort to stop him in his tracks.
When you consider that the second favourite in the race is currently being quoted at 10/1 there may be some value in looking elsewhere, or is that just wishful thinking?
