Casino Expansions Prove Entertaining

This week sees the opening of two substantial Connecticut casino expansions which are set to increase both the attraction and profitability of the ventures. As the casino sector continues to feel at least some of the economic pinch it is interesting to see that the Foxwoods Resort Casino and the Mohegan Sun Casino have both introduced entertainment to the mix.

The ventures have spent $700 million and $925 million respectively on their expansions and have high hopes for the future. While the larger casinos throughout the US have always incorporated hotels and entertainment venues within their casino complexes, this has not always been the case away from the likes of Las Vegas. However it seems that with the economy struggling, an additional string to the bow of these two casinos should help them through this bout of economic turbulence.

It seems that the official opening of these new extensions will see a range of celebrities wheeled out to catch the attention of the press. Stars such as Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs are expected to feature prominently at the opening ceremonies as the link between the gambling industry and superstars of today continues to strengthen.
